Peugeot began in 1810 by making coffee grinders.
Rather like this, although it's a much later one made after the car trade was hived off. Note that even then they had their lion on front.

Hipster achievement, level 5000: ride to artisan coffee roaster on your classic fixed gear Peugeot bicycle to buy small batch fair trade organic single source artisanal coffee to grind in your vintage Peugeot coffee grinder to make coffee in your vintage french press to drink before you drive to your job at tumblr in your 1963 Peugeot 404.

...while all the time wearing (where appropriate) a crinoline dress. Yes, Peugeot made the framework that supported these (metal struts) and went from there to bicycle wheels (more metal struts) and entire bikes.
No, I don't know how that would work while riding a bike.

Probably a bicycle wouldn't work but an unicycle would.

I'd totally rock a higher-end Peugeot racing bicycle. Because those are just very good bicycles. Not the fixed part, afaik they didn't make that many track bikes and there is nothing wrong with a derailleur that just chopping it off will fix. I don't care much for the very 'french' randonneur style bicycles. Shoddily brazed together from gas pipe, exposed chain, relatively aggressive geometry. Basically all the downsides of a racing bike, without any gains in speed when compared to a Dutch bike which didn't need maintenance and is infinitely more comfortable over the standard french patched-asphalt inner city roads.
Peugeot coffee grinders are reportedly very good for coarser grinds, and they were good looking grinders too. Coffee grinders in general are frequently lovely pieces of industrial design. (via the hand grinder jive thread on home-barista.com)
Basically, nothing wrong with your described scenario. Except the job at tumblr. In any case, just because something is vintage doesn't mean you can only appreciate it for being old. An old steel bike from 531 or better steel is still something that can offer a better riding experience than entry-level bicycles. A well-cared for old Peugeot is better than a new Hario grinder.
